While 700 lt / m2 water is needed for cotton cultivation, 30-70 lt / m2 water is needed for hemp cultivation; in other words, water consumption of hemp is 10 times less than cotton. We consider cannabis to be a natural treasure for water conservation, as natural water resources are significantly reduced.
When the roots of cannabis enter the soil, it acts as a rich source of selenium and a natural soil thinner, in addition to that it is a natural source of Oxygen that prevents radiation. There is no need to use pesticides and herbicides in cannabis cultivation. Hemp fiber quality can be increased by alternating planting without using fertilizers. The stem of cannabis is used to obtain fiber, the woody part is used to obtain energy, and the upper 25 cm of the plant is used to obtain cbd oil. Waste fibers from the spinning process can be used as insulation material. Therefore, the hemp production process is zero waste and can be recycled 8 times more than other fibers.
When we look at the textile comfort features, hemp fabric is breathable, skin-friendly, natural antibacterial, has higher hydrophility than cotton, long-lasting and can provide thermal comfort.
We think the textile industry should preserve and popularize hemp if it wants to continue to have natural resources to produce value-added products. Because hemp products are one of the innovative, environmentally friendly and sustainable rare products that we can leave a legacy to future generations, and as Marka Tekstil, we try to encourage the use of hemp by including it in every collection. Our projection for the future use of bast fibers such as flax, hemp and nettle is as follows:
Sustainability, which means creating a balance between nature and humans, is only valid when it can be proven and certified. Brands and manufacturers have to document and certify the materials, working and environmental conditions they use in order to show their global sustainability. We know that conventional textile production is not sustainable because it relies heavily on non-renewable resources, uses toxic inputs, and nearly every stage of fiber production is wasteful. As the popularity for the natural products in the world increases with the deterioration of the ecological balance and the increasing environmental awareness, organic and sustainable textile production is more in demand. However, organic textile production is not a trend for us, it is our conscious strategy and there is no return back to the old.
Marka Tekstil was founded in 2002 as a family company. Having almost 25 years of national and international textile industry experience (Karstad, König GmbH, Exxtasy GmbH, Daniel Hechter, Joop), we are specialized in R&D of organic textile value-added products and production, quality control and certification preparation of sustainable environmentally friendly textile materials such as hemp, nettle, organic cotton, wool… etc. We also provide R & D consultancy and educational services on organic textile production by ensuring customer satisfaction based order management. We work with European textile market, mostly well-known German organic textile companies. Additionally, we participate international and national projects with global and local associations , development agencies
